View Full Version : Is there an Affiliate System that Will Do This?

Just mulling over an idea in my head...not even sure if it will work at all. Would like to test it with some test products first (maybe self-created) before launching.

I am considering developing a site that will host online content (recorded webinars, teleseminars, podcasts and videos) within a particular niche, where the content-provider would prefer those recordings to be pay-per-view, rather than available free-of-charge. (Think of the webinars and recordings we have access to here in the private section of MyNAMS.com.)

Is there an Affiliate System that will:
- Let affiliates promote an individual product, category, or the site's home page by "sharing" on social media sites and sending a one-time notice/invitation by accessing that affiliate's online/offline address book?
- Let content providers set their own price and commission structure? (Mr. Trainer wants to sell his webinars for $25 apiece and offer 25% commission to affiliates, while Mr. Presenter wants to sell his podcasts for $10 apiece and offer 50% commission to affiliates.)
- Set "tiered" usage for online content? (You can have access to this teleseminar for up to three days for $5, forever for $10, or burned on a CD/DVD for $12.)

Considering this setup, which is the best way to monetize the system?
- Charge affiliates a one-time fee or subscription to be "members" of the affiliate program?
- Charge content providers a one-time fee or subscription to host their content?
- Charge content providers a percentage of their revenue? (Sell a $100 product, X% comes to me, Y% goes to your affiliate, you get the rest.)

Hey Scott,

I have seen pay per view, but I can't recall at the moment where. I'll look into it. :)

As for the three business models - I'd vote for either of these:
- Charge content providers a one-time fee or subscription to host their content?
- Charge content providers a percentage of their revenue? (Sell a $100 product, X% comes to me, Y% goes to your affiliate, you get the rest.)

I know the WSOPlus charges affiliates, but I think that's going to crash and burn.

I'll look up the pay per view info if I can find it.

Warmly,
N

I found it. The one I was thinking of that claims it has pay-per-view is DAP:
http://www.digitalaccesspass.com/features.php (not affiliate link)

Hope that helps with your research.

Best wishes,

Scott, a colleague of mine uses DAP extensively. I'm talking with her later this week and I'll ask her if she has used their pay-per-view feature or if she knows anything about it.

I think I would use the DAP self service store where each contributor would be a different Master product and then their various offerings would be "child" products (video1, ebook1, CD1 etc). Then customers would buy Master credits and "spend" them on the content they wanted based on the cost in credits set by the contributor. Commissions would be set by the contributor.

Since you would have to spend time setting it up, I would think a setup fee would be in order. You could also set yourself up as a second tier commission in order to participate in the sales. In order for the contributor to keep up with sales, you could include their email on the sales notification list for their Master product.

I'll have to look at it more closely. I assume DAP would be able to provide affiliate codes to:
- A specific product
- All products by provider
- The main site
- A search results list (i.e. all content on the site, regardless of provider, having to do with "x")

?

All DAP commissions are product specific but can be different for specific affiliates.
