Hi all. Not sure if this is the best thread to ask my questions but thought I would give it a go since it has to do with affiliate marketing.

I recently have been doing a lot of researching, studying and checking into things regarding niches, keywords, and such. I do have some blogs but they are not targeted enough and have no keyword or seo optimization so I thought I would start from scratch and run through the 30 day challenge.

We'll I made it through the challenge and such but now I have questions and concerns. So, here goes...please bear with me and hopefully I make sense.

1. I have picked a niche and during that time also picked out 10 micro niches which are product related. While they could be used to create individual sites/blogs, they could also be used on the main niche domain I bought as well. My question is, is it better to have a bunch of category topics on one main blog or to have individual niche sites targeting only that micro niche idea/product and then end up with many little sites with only a few pages of content each?

2. If you have enough products/ideas/categories, etc. is it possible to make a full time income from affiliate marketing from only one blog or better to have several mini sites.

I guess my main concern is, I don't want to have to be building multiple mini sites for each micro niche idea if I can have the same capacity to earn from those products/programs/services from one main site. If I choose keywords for each and do the proper SEO and back link strategies for each, does it really matter if they are all on one site or separate ones when it comes down to making enough money?

ok. hopefully I didn't confuse too many people! thanks for any help.

If your products are related and likely to be of interest to visitors/customers of the larger topic, I would think creating a larger site with lots of content would be better. You could create micro-targeted optimized pages for each product and use category tags to link blog posts to the products. You could also get visitors on the same broader list or niche it down on the separate product pages.

Hi Melanie,

I agree with Chris, if they are related its better to build one authority site for many reasons.
It would keep your back linking efforts focused on one site/niche
When different urls on one site ranks very well it helps the overall domain to gain authority, in turn helping other pages to rank higher without significant back linking.

If they are not closely related though I would say go for the micro sites.

You know full well how hard it can be to take care of many micro sites, so like the other posters here, I think you should go for an authority site as long as the topic is related.

I agree with everyone above ... one authority site and then categorize your blog posts and micro niches from there.

I agree about creating an authority blog. It's better to drill deeper than spread yourself too thin.

But, what I didn't hear mentioned was products. What you could do is create products that you could sell based on the micro-niches. Ebooks are easy enough to do and would help give some additional passive income while building your brand as an authority. You could create a webinar series or video product if you have the skills to do so. (You could always outsource it, also.)

Don't have the money to create a product? Finance it with low-price offers. For instance, do a paid teleclass or webinar series and offer it for dirt cheap. If it's a detailed series of - say - 4 or 6 session, price it at a no-brainer price ... maybe $67 or so. Get people to sign up for the live event and then use that money to produce the product that you'll sell through automated channels.

Just a thought.

Good tips from everyone. I know Melanie has been busy with her VA business and I don't think she realizes she got these responses. So mommy (that would be me) needs to go tell her to get back on this forum.

thanks Mom for letting me know. Yes, there are so many very wonderful ideas on here, I am glad I did come back. I appreciate all the ideas that you have shared and now my mind is churning with how they could be done. I do like the idea of a big authority site as well, but am sure that since some of my ideas are not related, there will be a couple micro niches thrown in the mix too just so I can do some testing.

It is the end of this year almost so writing out a plan for things to accomplish for next year has put me in an encouraged frame of mind. I have a feeling that if I stay focused and consistent to my plan that I will be able to have a very successful 2012 with my blog ideas.

thanks again everyone!

In order to make your living money off affiliate sales, you need to either dedicate 8 hours a day and make changes constantly, or have like 10 years of experience, so you can already relaz since you know how the whole system works and what your target market need.
