David Perdew and I joke about the term "passive income" because (at first) it is exhausting to get off the ground. Once established, however, there's nothing like it.

All the "phew!" type work is done for the new site I launched this week. You can see it at http://www.PetInsuranceAndMore.com

No, it isn't perfect, but that's OK. As the world-famous Bob the Teacher always says, "Get it up, fix it later." (Cindy Bidar laughs at my paraphrase of Bob's actual slogan "Take Action, Revise Later.")

But Bob is right. If I'd have waited until the site was perfect it would never get launched. There will always be something I need/want to do when it comes to starting a new site. Even now, I've asked for feedback from close friends and have a whole punch list of things to do. As time goes on, I'll add pages/features/options to the site and it will continue to grow.

But for now, it is up and running and as the potential to get great SEO rankings and earn money for me.

Are you stuck trying to get everything just so before you launch a product or site? Are you scared that people won't find it valuable? Don't be. Just do it! (Don't tell Nike I infringed on their copyright.) Get it out there. You can fix the details later, but you'll NEVER make money if you don't start with something... anything.

Go... now.... launch something!

Great job Karon - and yes the key to long term success is the revision.

Unfortunately too many people "revise before they start" - lacking confidence to move forward, always tweaking in isolation. That's too bad, because there are too many people waiting for a solution like this that would otherwise go unanswered.

Bob

p.s. You will likely never see a guy use the phrase "get it up" as a marketing motto, unless dealing with sex topics. :)

ROFL!!!! OK then... I'll do my best to remember "Take Action, Revise Later."

Karon,

I have been a forum lurker for a few years now and this might be the most valuable/encouraging post I have ever read - and I've read some long ones.

I think that many newbies have a tendency to think that you, Nicole and Bob (and others) wake up and ideas/websites/info products fall out in completed form as you're brewing the morning coffee.

I guess since Bob wrote the book on action -> revision it sounds silly to think that way.

I think the site looks great, and I can't wait to meet you at NAMS.

Hi Karon,

I just wanted to say how inspiring your work is for me!

Your new site is beautiful. Simple, straight-forward, immediately valuable to the niche. Brilliant!

Thank you for sharing your work with the community. It gives me renewed energy to keep at it.

I have a question for you, and I hope this isn't presumptuous of me but I'm gonna put it out there with all positive intentions at being helpful.

Have you considered offering the worksheet and "how to use the worksheet" video as an ethical bribe to get folks to sign up for the mailing list?

As the site stands now, I, as a visitor to your site, don't have much of an incentive to sign up for "yet another" mailing list, even if it is on a topic dear to my heart.

But if you offered me, as a visitor, a way to quickly determine which of the vast array of insurance options would be best for me (i.e. the worksheet and "how to" video), I'd be happy to sign up to get that info.

Just a thought.

And again, thank you for sharing your site. A living example is a huge help!

To your success,

- Brett

Jeremy - ROFL!!! I'd love to get my hands on that kind of machine. No, I can say with 100% certainty that Nicole, Bob and I put a LOT of work into our products. Especially the brand new ones. There are some that can be repurposed that don't take quite as much effort, but creating a site takes a certain number of steps regardless of who you are :)

David Perdew and I laugh at the term "passive income" because until you get it finished, it is anything BUT a passive process.

Brett - That is a very good suggestion. I'll come up with something to give away eventually, but for the moment I'm going to leave the worksheet as-is. Virtually none of the other sites that deal with pet insurance have any tools to help people make a logical decision so I decided to make it a focal point of the site.

Karen,

What a great site!! It is so clean, clear and focused! Very well done, effective and pleasing to follow. Being a pet lover and owner myself, you tapped into a great niche! The videos are very effective.

And YES, YES, YES .... I hear you and Bob ..... "take action, revise later!" You did it, you shared with us how . . . great encouragement!

Congratulations!!

Thanks Ute. Working this week to get the videos shortened and a little less "ramble-y".

I'm finding a lot of people that I didn't know were pet owners/lovers since I put the site up.

Karon, thank you so much for sharing your process with us. You are truly following the “take action revise later” mantra. I can actually hear Bob’s voice in my head – wait, he’s not just Bob, I meant Bob the Teacher. :)

This is sooo important and it does take courage. I loved what Jeremy Ginn said in his response,

I think that many newbies have a tendency to think that you, Nicole and Bob (and others) wake up and ideas/websites/info products fall out in completed form as you're brewing the morning coffee.Jeremy

I think too many us (newbies) think that way. We just need to remember that we all must take small consistent steps and keep refining as we go along.

Most importantly, thank you Karon for showing and sharing with us that we all must follow the same path…we must keep taking consistent action and keep revising as we go along.

This is an inspiring conversation! I'd like to share what works for me.

Every month I create a new site. This means one idea, one product (mine, resell or PLR, affiliate, etc.), one domain, one new list, one set of autoresponder messages.

My goal is to get it ready to go within 72 hours. I have a tech person help me with some of it, but I do the rest myself. On the third day I write an article to promote it and submit that article to the directories. Then I get back to work and make sure it's ready for company, because once that article is published I know that at least one new visitor is going to stop by.

As long as I am ready for company, and my autoresponders are at least one day ahead of that first visitor, I feel that I have accomplished my goal. I may tweak and change and update and rework this new site for the next year, but the 'welcome' mat is out and I'm serving coffee to my guests.

Just a little peek into my process. Hope it's helpful. Congratulations to everyone taking action and moving forward.

Connie

Thank you ma'am. I did a TON of research when revisiting the idea of pet insurance for my crowd and figured there was no need to waste the info. Plus, I really wanted to share what I'd learned since I was rather surprised at all the changes over the past 15 or so years.

It was fun to do and I really looked forward to watching the ideas roll out. Plug for Cindy Bidar. She did an awesome job on the design for me. <thumbs up>

I had no list in this area so it was a site literally started from scratch. But it's growing and even making a few dollars a month.

Got some great rankings on the videos (https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1608&bih=808&q=is+pet+insurance+worth+it&gbv=2&oq=is+pet+insura&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=2925l4715l0l6233l13l11l0l4l4l0l227l1106l1.3 .3l7l0). Bouncing around between positions 35-40 on Google for the Home page, but working on getting links so that will improve over time.

Just did a little checking and I've got one #1 ranking for a video plus a couple of 20-ish rankings for various web pages. Things are on an upward swing!

I agree Cindy Bidar is great.
Had a great belly laugh at "git er up"
And I guess its time to reveal what myself and 4 other sassy over 50 women did at nams
