Hello all. I wanted to brainstorm with a few of you about how to get my information product out on the net.

Here's a quick rundown of my product:

it's a body weight exercise manual with 32+ exercises
a workout program based on the exercises
nutritional information so that users can make wiser food decisions
includes a workout journal template
instructions and photos for all exercises
a list of recommended equipment that is optional for the exercises

This is going to be released on March 02, and it's going to be free for anyone who visits my website and takes an opt-in for my mailing list.

My question is how should I go about marketing this online? From my own business, I know that I should have at least 9-10 marketing avenues for my product. What I've come up with so far is ....

Twitter Campaign for tweeting about this product
Making a Facebook Fan Page with Custom Landing Page to give them an opt in
Marketing to my list(s)
Asking other businesses I have a relationship with to post to facebook, twitter, or email their lists about it

I'm also considering Facebook ads and Google ads to get this out there, plus a few offline tactics. I would like to get some marketing tactics from those who have experience in this though.

What has and has not worked for you when marketing an information product?

Will you have a paid product that follows this? If so, you can set up an affiliate program where referrals to the free product get tagged to the affiliate for future purchases.

You could also take some of your content and make a few videos with it and set up a You Tube channel using your best keywords for titles/descriptions.

I know you asked about Squidoo in another thread. That's a good tool. Also look at Tumblr. Although article marketing isn't as good as it once was, I think having some good articles posted at EzineArticles.com is still a good idea. Be sure to include a resource box that begins something like: "And now I'd like to invite you to... " Then give a link to your squeeze page both in anchor text and the raw link.

Quick question, first.

Will you be doing this all by yourself - or do you have a fair sized marketing team to handle specific tasks?

If you're on your own, then setting up 9 (or even 4) marketing channels is too much to do at once.

I'd pick 1, 2 or 3 of the channels with the highest potential for results (or where I can get the most
leverage), and focus on maximizing them first - and then, once I have a system going, expand into
other channels.

My favorite teacher Chet Holmes is fond of saying that success in marketing comes not from doing
12,000 different things, but from doing 12 things a 1,000 times each!

All success

@Chris - I'm actually making this free for now, with a bunch of affiliate products inside the manual. I'm also doing reviews of the equipment later on my blog. Thus far, I don't have another product to market with this, but I will be working on that in the near future.

Also I will be making videos to demonstrate the exercises as well, but in order to access them, it will require a membership with my website (already set up via s2member). Starting off it will be free, but to get access to more information, you will need to get a higher level membership, which is paid.

@drmani - right now it's just me doing this. I have a few plans of hiring others to help me out with this, but I'm waiting to see some actual traffic and purchases before I expand my marketing team.

I do have a number of marketing avenues, but I'm working on getting a system in place to work at them every week in my spare time. Main ones will be blog posts, email marketing, and videos.
