What Are Your NAMS Objectives?

NAMS Objectives: What are yours?

A few weeks before every NAMS, I decide on what my main objectives are for the workshop. What are the 2-3 things I want to focus on while I'm at NAMS?

My first step is to look over the NAMS schedule to see what sessions are planned. Then I brainstorm some ideas of what I want to learn/accomplish while I'm there.

My NAMS objectives have changed over the years, sometimes I have some of the same, sometime they are all different.

For NAMS 8 my objectives are very clear:

I want my focus to be more on list building/email marketing. I usually come in with at least 3 objectives but this time it's just one plus my goal this time around is to help others more and network.

I have personally had a few real rough months so I am going to take some time to relax and recharge my batteries for the last part of the year.

Don't feel that you have to attend every session. It's important that you not overwhelm yourself with so much info that will be shared. You can always buy the recordings to listen to later.

So I highly recommend you sit down, look at the schedule and plan your objectives. Then get ready for the time of your life. I look forward to meeting you there

this is a great question. people should come to NAMS knowing exactly what they want to learn based on the schedule. but I should be based on the schedule because of we're not offering it, you'll be disappointed.

Angie, now that I'm "IN" with room and plane reservations, this is a great question to get clear about. I try to pack way too much into too little time (like a firehose, as David Perdew says) which often doesn't serve me as well as taking it easy could! In addition to "sitting at the feet" of some great teachers on the schedule (making a choice, AAAHHH!) what happens outside the classroom atmosphere is key to me.
This time, I'm focused on networking with openness - to listen to others' progress with encouragement & share some ideas that have been percolating. I also want to use this time to get clear enough to do the next profitable actions on my active projects. Just 3 goals, but big ones!

Looking forward to connecting, hope we can arrange a time to really dig in and talk!

    Best,
    Mary

Angie, thank you for posting this question and sharing your thoughts. Though I had started the process as soon as the schedule came out, you so clearly articulate your preparation and thoughts behind it which helped me to focus clearer my own.

This time, I am so much clearer as to what I NEED to learn/strengthen and if there is time, maybe to add some luxury and join a session I WANT to. I have been extremely quiet for several months. As we all have to deal with personal issues that come our way, unexpected illness (thinking I am so healthy - and bam...), that's when our commitment is challenged. But I am happy to say that I think I passed the challenge as I guarded my personal time fiercely to not get off course but accept slower pace. It was rewarding to get my opt-in series done and a few articles, including part of an e-book. So, while studying the fabulous NAMS schedule (don't we all wish to be in every workshop?) and evaluating my weaknesses, it became clear that I needed to spend most of my time in Level1 to learn the more detailed techniques and gain the confidence to finally say to myself: "I passed Level 1 Newbie status." Second, I want to network and connect specifically with anyone who is starting new and offer encouragement, tips, resources, and support as I had 'slugged through' a stiff learning curve myself. Without the NAMS community, I would not have made it to this point. Now, I can begin to start giving back.

So, anyone who is very new to IM and NAMS, especially from the senior community (some issues are more specific among us - no bias intended), feel free to connect and let's chat.

Looking forward to NAMS 8 and seeing everyone.

Ute, glad it helped! And I totally hear you about the challenges, I have had my share the last 4 months and it's not easy to stay positive and keep going BUT we have to so that when these things come up in the future, we can take the time to tend to the challenges and not worry about money, etc.

Sounds like you have gotten a ton accomplished, so proud of you. It's very nice of you to offer to give back to help the new members. See you soon!
