What is everyone's opinion about .info domains? My blog is a .info. I didn't know any better when I bought it. I didn't know that spammers buy .infos. Can .info domains actually get ranked well in Google if they have quality content on them? Thanks

I've never heard that Google targets any particular domain extension. By nature, people assume .com which makes that extension so important. If you can obtain the .com version of your domain, you can then redirect it to your existing blog.
Maybe we'll have others weigh in on this question.

Thanks a bunch Christine. I have bought the .com. So are you saying I should market the .com domain but have all the traffic redirected to the .info?

I would definitely market the .com over any other extension. You can redirect the .info to the .com.

Yes. You could move the site to the .com and then tell Google thru Webmaster Tools about the change of address but that is quite an effort to take all the steps necessary. So just go into domain management at your registrar, and forward the .com to the .info. Then whenever someone types .com they will automatically be redirected to the .info.

Thanks ladies. I hope I get to meet you both Friday.

Definitely! Be sure to introduce yourself![]()

So Matthew -
This is your follow-up... What did you end up doing? What is the site name and which are you promoting? The .com or .info? Do you have your redirect setup from one to the other?
Be Well.

Ever say, "Oh @#$%^! I need help with WordPress?"
I thought so! http://WPSiteHelp.com

Paul I ended up using backup buddy. The site name is www.fitnessandnutritionsolutions.com. I am promoting the .com. The redirect for the .info is setup. Thanks for your help and thanks for asking Mr. Wordpress Ninja.
